I can't give you an answer. The greedy Buddha does make some sense as it is a representation of someone who clearly enjoys a good meal. The raving Buddha less so but I don't think offence is intended. As Buddhists have a reputation of being peaceful and easy-going the owners of the businesses may have thought it wouldn't be a problem but recent experience of Buddhists in Sri Lanka and Thailand suggest they can be just as belligerent as the rest of us! |
